At this year’s 2025 Manila Auto Salon, Sport Truck Show, and Trans Sport Show—organized by Tradeshow International at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay. Has been transformed into a showcase of speed, engineering, and brand synergy. At the heart of it all was a collaboration that fused elite performance with proven reliability: AMSOIL and MEK Automotive. Their centerpiece? A blisteringly fast Honda Civic Type R FL5 that now holds the title of the fastest FL5 in the Philippines.
This wasn’t just a display—it was a declaration. MEK Automotive’s FL5 Civic Type R had already carved its name into the record books with lap times of 2:05.160 at Clark International Speedway and 1:48.308 at Batangas Racing Circuit. Behind the wheel at Clark was none other than Don Pastor, seasoned international motorsports figure whose precision and experience helped push the FL5 to its limits. At BRC, Don Pastor took the reins, further proving the car’s consistency across different circuits.
What made this build exceptional wasn’t just the numbers—it was the meticulous selection of parts and the engineering philosophy behind it. MEK’s setup featured a Hondata E85 flex fuel kit, high-pressure pump, and upgraded injectors, allowing the car to run cooler and harder on ethanol blends. PRL’s titanium turbo inlet, intercooler, downpipe, and charge pipes ensured optimal airflow, while Eventuri’s carbon fiber intake system, turbo inlet, and charge pipes added both performance and visual finesse.
Cooling was a cornerstone of the build. MEK’s custom dual oil cooler kit and transmission cooler weren’t just for show—they enabled the car to run over 20 laps without overheating, a feat that speaks volumes in the context of Philippine track conditions. This endurance package was complemented by Nitron Race Pro 3-way adjustable suspension with remote canisters, giving the car race-grade damping control and adaptability.
Braking was equally serious. AP Racing Pro 5000R calipers paired with Endless brake pads delivered consistent stopping power, lap after lap. MEK also installed a full suite of adjustable arms—camber, toe, traction—ensuring precise handling geometry. Recaro RMS seats, Zestek 6-point harnesses, and a quick-release steering wheel completed the cockpit, blending safety with driver-focused ergonomics.
Outside, the car wore an ADRO original aero bodykit—carbon front lip, splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser—designed for aerodynamic stability. Rays TE37 SAGA S-Plus wheels wrapped in RT660 tires gave the build its aggressive stance and track-ready grip.
AMSOIL’s role was more than just branding. Their synthetic lubricants coursed through the FL5’s systems, ensuring thermal stability and reduced friction under extreme conditions. Visitors at the show got hands-on access to AMSOIL’s full product line, with exclusive discounts and giveaways that reinforced the brand’s commitment to performance. 
While other builds at the show—like the Signature Wheels-equipped Mustang GT500 and the HKS-powered Subaru BRZ—added variety and flair, MEK Automotive’s Civic Type R stood out for one reason: proof. It wasn’t just built to impress—it was built to win particularly on the track.
