Mitsubishi Motors Philippines opens its first ever Dendo Drive Station with PMPI and Meraclo

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) officially unveils Mitsubishi Manila Bay, as its flagship Dendo Drive Station in the country. It is an outlet where customers can learn and experience a variety of energy sources represented by an Electric Vehicle (EV) or Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)and the value of their power feeding functions in the event of a disaster.

Piloted under Peak Motors Philippines, Inc. (PMPI), this next-generation branch showcases and lets Filipinos discover first-hand the brand’s Vehicle-To-Home (V2H)energy ecosystem. Not only does it charge the Outlander PHEV but also supplies electricity back to the facility. On the daily, this lessens dependency on the grid to be able to run appliances, while during black outs, serves as a back-up generator. “We are very happy to have achieved this milestone with our dealer partner PMPI and energy provider Meralco. Mitsubishi Motors has always been dedicated to continuously studying technologies and gaining expertise when it comes to vehicle electrification. The Dendo Drive Station is a manifestation of this, bringing a new kind of value in terms of eco-mobility,” according to the President and CEO of MMPC, Mr. Takeshi Hara. “Designed to be part of our commitment to help achieve a sustainable society by 2030 while at the same time impact the communities where Mitsubishi Motors dealerships are located. We hope to get more support in helping instill confidence among Filipinos when it comes PHEVs and more importantly shed some light on environmental sustainability.”

Aside from significant benefits related to solar energy like cost savings on fuel and lowered carbon footprint, the Station becomes a reliable source of electricity in case of power outages and other emergencies. The Philippines, being one of the world’s most disaster prone countries, the equipment installed at the showroom and the Outlander PHEV’s external power feeding function can directly support calamity-affected communities. The Manila Electric Company (Meralco), through its subsidiaries, Spectrum, eSakay and MServ, brought the components to life. Two charging pods, an IKS bi-directional charger and a Delta DC Wall box, can be found inside the showroom and at the vehicle receiving area, respectively.

The official inauguration ceremony took placeat857 EDSA corner Roxas Boulevard and was attended by representatives from MMPC and the Peak Motors Group led by their VP and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. John Mabasa. With him were EVPs, Ms. Lourdes Teng and Mr. Gregory Dee, Manila Bay Branch Head Mr. Don Comia and Manila Bay Aftersales Manager, Mr. Mike Jardinez. Together with them were distinguished guests from the Pasay City local government, Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, as well as the Department of Energy’s(DOE) Director, Mr. Patrick Aquino. Also there were MSERV President and CEO, Mr. Ronnie Aperocho and eSakay President and CEO, Mr. Raymond Ravelo.
