It was a monumental weekend at the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, as the fourth round of the season concluded in spectacular fashion at Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship presented by Motul at Raceway Laguna Seca. For Motul, it was extra special, with two teams on the GTD Pro class podium representing Motul and its products. This was the second win of the season for Pfaff Motorsports, reclaiming the championship lead right before a 6-week summer hiatus. It was also the first podium for BMW M Team RLL of 2022, finishing third after a brilliantly executed race strategy and a competitive machine, thanks to Motul lubrication.
The #9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R qualified in pole position in its class, showing exceptional pace and dominance throughout the weekend. The drivers, Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell, controlled the race in a calm and calculated manner for the teams’ second victory at Laguna Seca in consecutive years. The superior race strategy allowed the Motul-powered Porsche to lead all but five laps of the race. Motul has played an important role in the success of Pfaff Motorsports and continues to be a vital factor as the team looks to defend its championship status. The car’s performance was unmatched and Motul products helped keep it running at the highest level for a flawless race victory.

Connor De Phillippi and John Edwards piloted the #25 MOTUL BMW M4 GT3 of BMW M Team RLL to their first podium finish of the season. The team has faced a difficult start to the season but has shown steady signs of improvement as the championship has moved forward. After qualifying in P4, the pair of American drivers made up a position in the second half of the race, following the driver change. The car’s improvement has been aided by Motul’s range of racing-grade lubricants which allow the team to focus on performance and not worry about reliability. The Motul-liveried team has shown great promise and will be looking to continue this momentum as the championship progresses further.

Motul’s collaboration with racing teams is the ultimate way to test their products in a living laboratory and constantly refine their formulation to bring the best quality to everyday consumers.
Both teams will feature on track after the summer break at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen scheduled to take place on the 26th of June 2022 at Watkins Glen International.
