Why is MT Helmets so underrated in the Philippines? If you look at it online, it is widely considered as one of the top helmet brands in the world. It’s always within the top 10. MT Helmets has a wide product range, including full-face helmets, modular helmets, open-face helmets, and off-road helmets. They are also well known experts when it comes to safety homologations.
The Spanish brand is notorious when it comes to providing really affordable helmets (price) up to FIM Racing standard helmets. If homologation certifications are trophies displayed on a cabinet, they have ’em all. From the very least DOT, ECE 22.05, now ECE22.06, they also have FIM seals on their top of the line variant.

The company’s purpose is plain and simple, “We make maximum safety on two wheels affordable for everyone.”

I was very lucky to get my hands on one of their latest models, the MT Jarama. I’m such a sucker for retro-inspired stuff. Just like what I always mention, I owe my entire career in the classic and custom motorcycle scene when it all became very popular back in 2016.
Before I get into details, retro-classic helmets are basic. What makes them all different are quality of construction, safety rating and materials. They are primarily round in shape and simple. The monotony of retro-classic helmets make it elegant. The history of the brand even gives it more value, buy reintroduction and reinforcing the advanced safety requirements of a motorcycle helmet.

MT Jarama’s user safety is sealed with the latest ECE 22.06 rating which settles its homologation rating above board. With the new standard of rating, MT Jarama gives users more confidence. Stringier tests made for this model gives it more credence and assurance.
When it comes to fit and comfort, the MT Jarama is sensibly snug. The helmet comes in 2 shell sizes – XS to M and L – 2XL. I generally prefer medium sized helmets because of the shell size allocation. I preferred a smaller sized shell. But for MT Jarama, I took a large size because of its thick interior padding that makes up for the big shell size. It would be a plus if stores could offer customizable interior padding, whether I prefer a medium shell that comes with a large padding.
The materials used for the interior are plush, moisture-wicking interior lining, that comes in an earth-tone, hypoallergenic finish to match its elegant look and feel. The chin guard comes as a standard that helps reduce noise. Overall, the interior is outstanding retro quality.
The visor is equipped with dual vents that help minimize eyeglass fogging that comes in a shiny gold color which adds bling to it. At some point, I feel it kind of obstructs the view sometimes. While the visor vent gives additional cooling internally, I would wish the elements are smaller or reduce its size. The flip handle is on the left hand side which I totally prefer.

The helmet strap is a micrometric double teeth closure, similar to a click-release strap. Although I fully prefer double-D ring straps, this makes it more quick and easy to access on the get-go.
The matte black – gold color combination is really match-made. The simplicity makes it elegant. The plain matte finish with gold accents make it look premium. The monotony of the MT Jarama makes it easy to match with modern classic motorcycles. It crossovers versatility to a daily commuter helmet, or flashy bike nights and moto hang outs.

The price event makes it more appealing. MT Helmets positioned its products offering maximum safety ratings with really affordable value. MT Helmet Jarama Solid colors can be yours for P6200, while graphic designed ones cost P6,500. Top level performance offered at a great price. It is a perfect yin-yang for those looking for the best value retro helmet backed up with a solid brand that boasts its reputation when it comes to helmet homologation.
