Hongqi Flagship AWD EVs Shine with Real‑World Efficiency at Petron DOE Eco Run

Hongqi Philippines reinforced its commitment to combining luxury, performance, and efficiency as its flagship all‑wheel‑drive (AWD) battery electric vehicles posted impressive results at the Department of Energy (DOE) Eco Run.

The Eco Run, designed to generate credible real‑world energy efficiency data, covered a 154.5‑kilometer route from Tarlac through Pangasinan to La Union via the Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEX). The event featured a diverse mix of internal combustion vehicles, plug‑in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles, with most BEVs running single‑motor drivetrains. Hongqi stood out as one of the few brands showcasing dual‑motor AWD systems, tested under actual highway conditions.

Representing Hongqi were its high‑powered AWD variants, driven to reflect typical highway behavior—accelerating to overtake slower traffic at 100 kph before returning to a cruising speed of 80 kph. Even under these demanding conditions, all three models delivered exceptional efficiency results:

  • EHS7 Flagship AWD – 48.79 km/Lge
  • EH7 Flagship AWD – 51.16 km/Lge
  • EHS9 Flagship AWD – 40.57 km/Lge

These figures are particularly noteworthy given the vehicles’ performance specifications. Both the EHS7 midsize SUV and EH7 midsize sedan produce 610 hp (455 kW) and 756 Nm of torque, while the larger EHS9 full‑size SUV delivers 544 hp (405 kW) and 750 Nm of torque. Together, they highlight Hongqi’s ability to balance powerful dual‑motor AWD performance with efficient energy consumption.

While AWD models took the spotlight at the Eco Run, Hongqi also shared manufacturer‑tested city‑driving results for its single‑motor RWD variants. The EHS7 Executive SUV achieved 61.4 km/Lge, while the EH7 Executive sedan recorded an even higher 63.5 km/Lge. With outputs of 339 hp (253 kW) and 450 Nm of torque, these models demonstrate that Hongqi’s efficiency extends across its lineup, regardless of drivetrain configuration.

“The DOE Eco Run results reaffirm Hongqi’s commitment to delivering electric vehicles that combine exceptional performance with real‑world efficiency,” said Rashid Delgado, President of Hongqi Philippines. “From our dual‑motor AWD models to single‑motor RWD vehicles, each achieves strong power and notable energy efficiency, reflecting our dedication to engineering excellence and a refined driving experience.”

With a diverse BEV portfolio ranging from performance‑focused AWD trims to highly efficient single‑motor variants, Hongqi Philippines offers electric vehicles that cater to varying customer needs—whether prioritizing power, efficiency, luxury, or a balance of all three.
