BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, has taken a bold step in transforming public transport in the Cordillera region with the launch of the country’s first Sealion 5 DM‑i taxi fleet. In collaboration with dealer partner SEAelectric, 20 brand‑new units have been turned over to Highland Transport Service Cooperative (HTSC), marking a milestone in the modernization of mobility in La Trinidad and beyond.
The Sealion 5 DM‑i, powered by BYD’s Super DM‑i technology, combines electric‑first performance with extended range and optimized fuel efficiency. Designed to handle the demanding terrain of Benguet and the wider Cordillera region, the fleet promises lower operating costs for drivers and a quieter, more comfortable ride for passengers.
For HTSC, the deployment supports its re‑fleeting program aimed at modernizing transport services and ensuring long‑term operational sustainability.
“At BYD Cars Philippines, we are focused on advancing clean energy solutions and supporting the transition toward greener transportation. The Sealion 5 DM‑i taxi fleet in La Trinidad and the Cordillera shows how innovation can deliver efficiency and cost‑effectiveness while performing beyond city roads,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.
This initiative underscores BYD’s commitment to tailoring electric mobility solutions to the needs of local operators, while serving as a symbol of smarter, more sustainable, and more accessible transportation for Filipino commuters.
