Scuderia Ferrari HP left the Hungaroring with P4 for Charles Leclerc and P5 for Lewis Hamilton, a result that did not reflect the true pace of the SF‑26. On a circuit where overtaking is notoriously difficult, the team’s weekend was compromised from the start, leaving both drivers locked in traffic and unable to unleash their full potential.
Leclerc, starting on used Softs from the dirty side of the grid, lost ground with wheelspin, while Hamilton made a clean getaway on new Softs but was unable to pass Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen. 
From then on, both Ferraris were trapped in a train of cars, unable to run in clean air. Strategic attempts to undercut rivals briefly reshuffled the order, but positions were quickly lost again on track. A late double stop for Softs after Piastri retired on lap 55 brought fresh tyres, but Hamilton slipped behind Verstappen and Antonelli, compounded by a five‑second penalty for pit‑lane speeding.
Leclerc summed up the frustration: “We lost positions at the start, and on a track like this, where overtaking is so difficult, we just couldn’t come back. The grip was the main challenge, but the team has done an amazing job bringing upgrades and progress. 
Now we recharge and come back stronger after the break.”
Hamilton echoed the sentiment: “It’s frustrating to come away with so little when the potential was there. The car was good, but the last few races have been costly. Still, I’m second in the championship, and there’s a long way to go. 
The summer break is a chance to reset and return stronger.”
Team Principal Fred Vasseur admitted the weekend was below expectations: “Too many issues and mistakes, starting with qualifying. We did the right thing undercutting Verstappen but lost the position again. On the positive side, we’ve closed the gap to Mercedes. Now it’s time to recharge and prepare for the second half of the season.”
Ferrari heads into the summer shutdown second in the Constructors’ standings, with Hamilton holding P2 in the Drivers’ Championship and Leclerc in P4, determined to regroup and return to Zandvoort with renewed strength.
