Lorenzo Baldassarri lowers his personal best time by one second compared to yesterday, Simone Corsi improves again in top speed, but was unlucky to find traffic on track in the highlight of the qualifying session.
Warm sunshine greeted the MV Agusta Forward Racing Team riders on the beautiful Red Bull Ring track on a Saturday that offered positive insights
Lorenzo Baldassarri, after a rather complicated morning session due to a crash in the opening minutes, rode the qualifying session with determination, improving his Friday best time by one second. The Italian rider showed that he is slowly regaining the best feeling with his F2, after the hand injury that kept him away for some time.
The recorded time of 1’29.832 earned him the start from the ninth row of the grid.
Simone Corsi, on the other side of the box, was the protagonist of a Saturday in constant improvement in terms of lap time, but especially in the important data regarding the top speed, aspect on which the team has invested much of the work done during the summer break. In the qualifying session the traffic of other riders on track and the yellow flags did not allow him to line up his best split times: tomorrow he will start from the tenth row for a comeback race.

These are the timetables for tomorrow race: at 09:10 the Warm Up will start, preceding the 25-lap race that will start at 12:20.
Lorenzo Baldassarri – Rider #7
“This morning unfortunately I had a strange crash at the start of the session when my tyre locked up and I lost the front all of a sudden. In the afternoon we chose to start with a more familiar base and from the first lap we went better. But then I wasn’t able to brake properly in turn one, I went long and preferred to stop in the box to check the bike, but unfortunately the session was practically over. Overall it hasn’t been an easy day, but we’ll analyze the data and try to prepare for tomorrow. I am confident of a good race”.
Simone Corsi – Rider #24
“Today we tried some new solutions and in the afternoon I improved compared to this morning. Unfortunately the position is not the best, tomorrow we will start a little bit behind, but the race pace is not bad. The positive thing is that we have improved further in terms of speed even if unfortunately the gap to the front still makes us suffer. Now we will continue to work ahead of tomorrow, hoping to make a comeback race”.
