Other government agencies are also contributing for the wider adoption of EVs among Filipinos. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is implementing the National Electric Vehicle Incenntive Strategy (EVIS)to entice local businesses to   switch to EVs. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) continue to work on modernization of public transportation.

For his part, President Ferdinand ‘Bong Bong’ Marcos has consistently supported the EV industry. He recenty mandated government agencies to mae EVs account for 10% of their fleet, that is double of the minimum 5% required as stipulated in the EVIDA Law. President Marcos has also made it clear that his intention to accelerate the adoption of EVs in both public and private sectors through various schemes and incentives.

The adoption of EVs sparked more in 2023, sales of EVs jumped to 10,602, figures from Statista. Compared to just 1,072 units in 2022. This 2024 the sales of EVs are expected to further rise especially this upcoming September to December; are the peak months for EV sales based on historical data.
