Jack Miller narrowly missed out on a podium place at the British Grand Prix, while Pol Espargaro was unable to convert his pole position into a victory as he finished in fifth position at Silverstone.

Having secured his first pole of the season on Saturday, Repsol Honda rider Espargaro held onto his advantage at the start of the race but was ultimately unable to prevent Fabio Quartararo from securing a fifth win of the campaign. As Espargaro slipped down the field, Australia’s Miller aimed to put a disappointing qualifying session behind him as he moved from seventh at the start to battling for third place by the final lap.

The Ducati rider came close to grabbing a podium finish but had to settle for fourth after losing a last-lap duel to Spaniard Aleix Espargaro, whose brother Pol finished in fifth.

Red Bull KTM rider Brad Binder put in a strong showing, moving from 12th at the start to sixth by the chequered flag, with Iker Lecuona in seventh, Alex Marquez in eighth and Johann Zarco in 10th.

Spaniard Danilo Petrucci was 11th on his Red Bull KTM Tech 3, LCR Honda rider Takaaki Nakagami took 13th place and Portugal’s Miguel Oliveira was 16th. Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez failed to finish after being involved in an early incident with Pramac rider Jorge Martin, who was also unable to continue.
