Manuel Gonzales replaces Lorenzo Baldassarri for the #AssenGP

Following last week’s crash at the Sachsenring, which involved Lorenzo Baldassarri, the MV Agusta Forward Racing team has signed young Spanish rider Manuel Gonzalez for the Assen Grand Prix.

Unfortunately, Tommaso Marcon will not be able to take to the track to replace Lorenzo as, following the operation he underwent before the Mugello Grand Prix for compartment syndrome, the wound has become infected and the rider from Padova needs a period of recovery before returning to the World Championship.

Manuel Gonzalez, born in Madrid on 4 August 2002, is currently competing in the World Super Sport Championship, where he is currently ranked 7th overall. Gonzalez started his career on two wheels in 2016 with the MotoGP Rookie’s Cup and some races in the Spanish Championship. In 2017 he competed in the European Talent Cup and won the title. The same year Manuel also took part in the last race of the World Super Sport 300, a championship he then led in full in 2018, finishing the season in 6th position. In 2019 the Spanish rider won the title in this category and in 2020 he moved up to the Super Sport World Championship where he also currently competes.

The entire MV Agusta Forward Racing team wishes Lorenzo a speedy recovery, and welcomes Manuel to the team for this race, as he will officially be on track for the FP2 session at 15:10.
