Access Plus Racing delivered a masterclass in dominance at Round 6 of the 2025 Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK), held at Clark International Speedway—securing a clean 1-2-3 finish and celebrating a historic milestone as TJ Alberto claimed his fifth consecutive PSBK Pro Class title aboard the Ducati Panigale V4.
Pole, Pressure, and a Pivotal Crash
Saturday’s qualifying session set the tone, with TJ clocking a blistering 1:48.031 to grab pole, edging out rival Marvin Mangulabnan by 0.325 seconds. Troy Alberto locked in P3, setting the stage for a high-stakes Sunday showdown.
Race 1 exploded into action as TJ launched cleanly from pole, while Troy surged past Mangulabnan into second. The Aprilia rider fought back and briefly took the lead—only to suffer a dramatic crash under braking at Turn 10 with seven laps to go. That moment handed full control to Access Plus Racing, with TJ and Troy cruising to a formation finish. Jan Timbol completed the all-Ducati podium sweep in third.
Mangulabnan remounted to finish seventh, but the damage to his title hopes was done. TJ extended his championship lead, while Troy leapfrogged into second overall.
Race 2: A Family Duel and a Photo Finish
With the title within reach, TJ lined up on the front row once again, joined by Troy in P2. Mangulabnan, starting from P6, charged through the field to join the lead battle early.
Troy led the opening laps, with TJ and Mangulabnan in hot pursuit. The Aprilia rider briefly took second from TJ and challenged for the lead, but TJ struck back with three laps to go—first reclaiming P2, then overtaking his younger brother to take the win.
The final laps delivered a nail-biting duel between Troy and Mangulabnan for second place, ending in a photo finish with the Aprilia rider edging ahead by just 0.029 seconds.
But the weekend belonged to TJ. His double victory sealed the 2025 PSBK title with one round to spare, while Troy’s consistency moved him 10 points clear in the fight for second overall.
Eyes on the Finale
The season wraps up on November 22–23, once again at Clark. With the championship secured, TJ now turns his focus to helping Troy lock in the runner-up spot.
Rider Reactions
TJ Alberto, #77: “What a rush to clinch my 5th championship a round early. I got emotional before Race 2—growing up, I just loved riding and racing. I never imagined I’d reach this level. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s helped me along the way. Race 2 was a real thrill, battling with Troy and Marvin. We’re not done yet—Round 7 is still ahead, and I’m already excited for 2026, especially with the 7th-gen Panigale coming.”
Troy Alberto, #69: “I’m happy with how the weekend went. We were really close to the win in both races. I just ran out of gas in the final meters of Race 2. Now it’s all about beating Marvin to secure 2nd in the championship. Huge congrats to TJ—he’s had an incredible season.”
Toti Alberto, Team Principal: “Mission accomplished. Congratulations to TJ and the entire team on his 5th straight PSBK title—and with one round to spare. I’m proud of Troy for climbing to 2nd in the standings. But we’re not letting up. We’ll be pushing hard at the finale to finish the season strong.”
