Motul-backed Filipino phenom Iñigo Anton continues to light up the track in the Formula 4 Southeast Asia (F4 SEA) Championship, seizing the Rookie Cup lead after a standout performance in Round 2 at Chang International Circuit.
Racing through relentless rain and slick conditions, the Motul factory driver delivered a career-best result—claiming victory in the Rookie class and finishing second overall in Race 5. It was a performance that firmly placed the 19-year-old in the spotlight, earning respect across the paddock and pushing him further up the championship standings.
From P3 to a Podium Thriller
Lining up P3 on the grid, Iñigo launched into action with clinical aggression. In the opening laps, he boldly took the lead before being passed by Vietnam’s championship leader Alex Sawer on Lap 3. But the real battle was just beginning.
Under constant threat from Thai favorite Ayrton Asdathorn and Australian contender Seth Gilmore, Anton put on a masterclass in wet-weathered racecraft and defensive driving. With each lap, he fended off attacks and stayed cool under pressure.
“We managed to get P2 halfway through the race, but from there, it was all about defense,” said Iñigo. “After intense pressure from the guys behind, we managed to hold on.”
His gritty drive secured his second overall podium of the season and extended his lead in the Rookie Cup Championship—a massive achievement in only his second F4 round.
A Breakthrough in the Wet
The victory was even sweeter considering it was Anton’s first-time racing in wet conditions in a Formula car.
“It was a fun race, and I’m super happy with the results,” said Anton. “Huge thanks to my team, Black Arts Racing, and my coach Alex Yoong for guiding me through this challenge. This was a big step forward in my learning curve.”
He also gave special thanks to those who made his journey possible:
“I’m incredibly grateful to all my sponsors—especially MOTUL Luzon-Infiniteserv and Sir Charlie Ong—for this amazing opportunity. Racing Formula cars has always been my dream, and this feels like a dream coming true.”
Next Stop: The Streets of Bangsaen
With Round 3 of the F4 SEA series set to take place in Bangsaen, Thailand this July, Iñigo faces his first-ever street circuit—a tight, unforgiving track that demands maximum precision and confidence.
“We’re working hard on developing our setup for Bangsaen. It’s unfamiliar territory, so it’ll definitely be a challenge,” he shared. “But I’m learning fast, and we’ll give it everything we’ve got.”
Motul-Powered Momentum
Backed by Motul, along with Alpinestars Philippines, Yokohama Philippines, Blu Coffee Distributors, Time Master Watches, and the unwavering support of his family, Iñigo Anton is proving he’s not just a talented rookie—he’s a serious contender.
From rain-soaked heroics to fearless overtakes, the young Filipino is fast becoming one of the most talked-about names in the F4 SEA paddock. With the Rookie Cup lead in hand and momentum building, Anton’s Motul-powered journey is only just beginning.
Watch his pace—because Iñigo Anton isn’t just racing for wins. He’s racing toward greatness.
