McLaren W1 Headlines Celebration of Speed, Legacy, and Innovation at Goodwood 2025

McLaren Automotive is set to electrify the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 10–13, 2025) with a spectacular showcase of engineering excellence, motorsport legacy, and design innovation—led by the global public debut of the revolutionary McLaren W1.

Taking center stage at ‘McLaren House’, the W1 leads a breathtaking trio of icons—the McLaren F1, McLaren P1, and now W1—united by McLaren’s exclusive “1” lineage. Built around a brand-new 1,275PS V8 hybrid powertrain, rear-wheel drive, and F1-inspired ground effect aerodynamics, the W1 blends supercar power with race-born drama to deliver a visceral driving experience both on road and track. With only 399 units offered—already fully allocated—the W1 represents the next chapter in McLaren’s legacy of rewriting the rules.

A 30-Year Le Mans Legacy

2025 marks three decades since McLaren’s historic Le Mans victory—an achievement celebrated with two standout moments at Goodwood. The legendary #59 McLaren F1 GTR that won the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans will return to action on the Hillclimb, piloted by JJ Lehto, one of the original race-winning drivers.

Alongside it, the new McLaren 750S Le Mans makes its public debut. Limited to just 50 units, this special edition pays homage to the F1 LM road car with a bespoke MSO High Downforce Kit and elevated circuit performance—combining modern engineering with racing heritage.

Solus GT Returns to the Hill

For the third consecutive year, the track-only Solus GT will thrill crowds with its outrageous performance. Powered by an 840PS 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 and weighing under 1,000kg, this single-seat hypercar has become a Goodwood favourite. After winning the Timed Shootout in 2023 and storming the hill in 2024 with Mika Häkkinen behind the wheel of a custom-liveried car, the Solus GT returns once more in customer-owned form, reinforcing MSO’s extraordinary capability for bespoke craftsmanship.

Racing Spirit on Display

Two ultra-rare Celebration Edition supercars, based on the 750S and Artura, will also be seen in action. Created to commemorate McLaren’s 2024 Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship, each is limited to nine examples, finished in MSO-curated liveries featuring McLaren’s iconic Papaya Orange and Anthracite colours.

Celebrating a Decade of LT

2025 also marks ten years of McLaren’s revered ‘LT’ series. The Celebrate LT initiative has brought the LT community together through global events, culminating in a strong presence at Goodwood. Models from McLaren’s Heritage collection will appear in the Supercar Paddock and take part in dynamic demonstrations—showcasing the lightweight, track-honed spirit that defines the LT badge.

From milestone debuts to heritage tributes and raw track thrills, McLaren promises a Festival of Speed experience like no other—honouring the past, defining the present, and charging into the future.
