BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, marked a major step forward in Mindanao’s journey toward sustainable transportation with the successful conclusion of its first BYD Tech Tour in the region, held in Cagayan de Oro from June 27-29, 2025. The event showcased BYD’s cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) lineup and emphasized the brand’s commitment to building a cleaner, electrified future across the Philippines.

Through interactive exhibits, immersive technology experiences, and hands-on test drives, Kagay-anons got a firsthand look at the future of mobility—one powered by advanced electrification, smart features, and zero-emission driving.

“We remain true to our commitment to bring innovation through BYD and to build the charging infrastructure needed to make electric mobility more accessible and affordable to Filipinos,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.

Tech Tour Brings BYD’s Vision to Life in Mindanao

The CDO stop of the BYD Tech Tour is a continuation of BYD and ACMobility’s efforts to make EV ownership more attainable for Filipinos outside major urban centers. It follows the opening of Mindanao’s first BYD dealership in Davao City, a significant milestone that laid the foundation for widespread EV adoption in the region.

During the event, attendees experienced BYD’s newest electrified models up close, including the Seal 5 DM-i, Sealion 6 DM-i, eMax 7, Shark 6 DMO, and the Mindanao debut of the all-new Sealion 5 DM-i—a subcompact SUV that blends performance, practicality, and modern style in a package designed for the everyday Filipino driver.

“The BYD Tech Tour is a key platform for connecting with consumers and helping them understand the benefits of EVs,” said Adam Hu, Country Head of BYD Philippines.
“We’re not just introducing vehicles—we’re helping drive a national transition to a more sustainable, electrified future.”

ACMobility Powers Progress with Expanded EV Charging Infrastructure

Complementing BYD’s expansion is ACMobility’s growing EV charging network, a critical part of the company’s Philippine EV Spine initiative. As of June 2025, nine charging locations are live in Mindanao, with more set to launch before year-end—including a key site in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Nationwide, ACMobility has already activated over 230 charging points across 100+ locations, on track to exceed its target of 700 charge points by the end of 2025. In partnership with Evro, EV users can easily find charging stations, monitor usage, and make seamless, cashless payments via a user-friendly mobile app.

“We’re building a reliable, inclusive charging ecosystem to support the growing EV movement—not just in big cities, but across the country,” said Carla Buencamino, Head of Mobility Infrastructure at ACMobility. “With the EV Spine, we’re laying the foundation for a future where every Filipino can drive electric with confidence and convenience.”

Sealion 5 DM-i: Electrifying Everyday Driving

A highlight of the Tech Tour was the Mindanao debut of the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i, a game-changing subcompact SUV engineered for young, tech-savvy drivers. Designed to conquer city traffic and weekend road trips alike, the Sealion 5 DM-i offers a compelling mix of fuel efficiency, smart features, and modern design—plus a long driving range that eliminates range anxiety.

“The Sealion 5 DM-i is a smart, sustainable mobility partner that delivers real-world performance and comfort,” added Palanca.
“It’s tailored for practical, value-driven Filipinos who want more freedom behind the wheel—without compromise.”
