Scuderia Ferrari HP has unveiled the SF‑26, the car that will carry the team into the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship. As the 72nd Ferrari F1 machine, it represents the dawn of a new era, designed from the ground up to meet the sport’s most radical regulatory overhaul in decades.
The launch at Fiorano Circuit introduced a car that embodies Formula 1’s new philosophy: lighter chassis, reimagined aerodynamics, and hybrid power units with greater electric integration. The SF‑26 abandons ground‑effect aerodynamics in favor of cleaner, more efficient lines, while its new hybrid system eliminates the MGU‑H and boosts the MGU‑K to 350 kW, marking a decisive step forward in energy recovery and performance.
Design and Identity
Visually, the SF‑26 is a bold statement. Its proportions convey agility and lightness, while the livery bridges Ferrari’s past and future. The return to gloss Rosso Scuderia paint—brighter and more intense than recent matte finishes—evokes the passion of Ferrari’s heritage, inspired by the Monza special livery of 2025. White accents around the cockpit and engine cover add contrast and balance, making the car instantly recognizable. Together, red and white symbolize Ferrari’s dialogue between tradition and innovation.
The drivers’ race suits echo this identity: red remains dominant, while white accents across the shoulders and collar connect to Ferrari’s history, underscoring the team’s blend of continuity and evolution.
Technical Challenge
The SF‑26 is more than a car—it is a complete rethink of Ferrari’s engineering philosophy. The chassis and power unit were developed in close integration, ensuring flexibility for in‑season development. Active aerodynamics, sustainable fuels, and new tyre sizes all form part of the 2026 challenge.
Team Principal Fred Vasseur emphasized the collective effort: “The SF‑26 represents the start of a completely new journey. Our priority now is to learn as much as possible in testing and build solid foundations ahead of the opening race.”
Technical Director Loïc Serra highlighted efficiency and adaptability, while Power Unit Director Enrico Gualtieri described the new hybrid system as a “clear shift in philosophy” requiring a complete architectural rethink.
Driver Perspective
For Charles Leclerc (#16), the new regulations demand instinct and adaptability: “Energy management and the power unit will be among the most significant aspects. The support of the fans will be especially important this season.”
Lewis Hamilton (#44) called it the biggest regulation change of his career: “Being involved from the very start in developing such a different car has been fascinating. This year will be technically demanding, but the passion of the tifosi drives us forward.”
