An encouraging Friday for Rodrigo and Alcoba in the Netherlands

There is a positive mood inside the Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 pit-box at the end of the opening day of free practice at Assen, the Netherlands. This is Gabriel Rodrigo’s first appearance at this track since 2019, while Jeremy Alcoba is here to make his debut: both riders did well with the Argentine – despite a morning crash at turn one – being able to finish sixth, while the Spaniard was 15th.

Rodrigo, who escaped the tumble uninjured, has worked on both the time attack and the race pace, while Jeremy Alcoba completed as many laps as possible in order to learn the layout of this iconic circuit – and did so with great results.

Moto3 proceedings will resume tomorrow morning at 9:00 local time (GMT +2) with the FP3, in which the #52 will aim at getting the direct seed to Q2, which at the moment is only one tenth away.

6º – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (1’42.222)

“I immediately felt good on the bike despite the morning crash. I worked on my own the whole time and I did a great lap-time without slipstream – which was only 0.3secs slower than my personal best lap here. In the FP2 session we worked more on the race pace, but we had a bit of grip before the rain did the rest.”

15º – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’42.688)

“I must admit I like this track a lot more compared to the Sachsenring. I feel good physically and the feeling with the bike is great. I feel strong, honestly speaking, and this is a great sign after only twenty laps or so at this track. This morning I followed Suzuki a bit and I understood I can be fast, while in the afternoon I set my quickest lap with used tyres…. There’s plenty to improve still, but we’re on the right track.”
