EVAP Welcomes New Board, Accelerates Philippines’ Shift to Electric Mobility

The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) has installed its new Board of Directors, with Willy Tee Ten, President and CEO of the Autohub Group, taking the helm as President. This leadership transition comes at a pivotal time, as electric mobility moves from niche to mainstream and EVAP positions itself to guide the industry through its most transformative decade yet.

Joining Tee Ten are Carla Buencamino (Vice President), Mark Rola (Corporate Secretary), Kevin Yao (Treasurer), and Jojo Conde (Auditor). EVAP founders Ferdinand Raquelsantos and Rommel Juan continue to serve as Chair Emeritus and Chair, while longtime President Edmund Araga steps into the role of Ex‑Officio Immediate Past President.

Araga’s four‑term tenure was marked by landmark achievements, including the passage of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), the creation of the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (CREVI), and the formation of the Asian Federation of Electric Vehicle Associations (AFEVA).

The new leadership inherits an industry at an inflection point: EV sales surged from under 1,000 units in 2022 to nearly 20,000 in 2025, reaching a 7% market share. Charging stations have tripled nationwide, ride‑hailing fleets are rolling out EV taxis, and a lithium battery factory in Tarlac is set to power thousands of vehicles by 2030.

“We are not starting from scratch,” Tee Ten emphasized. “We are building on a strong foundation, and that gives us every reason to be excited. EVAP is ready to push the boundaries of what the Philippine EV industry can achieve.”

Founded in 2009, EVAP has grown into one of Southeast Asia’s earliest and most influential EV industry organizations. With over 88 member‑companies and seven university partners, EVAP continues to drive the country toward its ambitious goal of 50% EV adoption in new vehicle sales by 2040.
