Green GSM Honored for Green Leadership at Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2025

Green GSM, Southeast Asia’s first fully electric ride-hailing platform, has been awarded the Green Leadership Award at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2025, recognizing its trailblazing efforts to redefine urban transport through sustainability and innovation.

Developed by Vietnam’s Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), Green GSM has rapidly emerged as a regional force in clean mobility, pioneering an inclusive, scalable model for electric transport. The award, presented at a ceremony in Bangkok, underscores the company’s impact not just in Vietnam, but across Southeast Asia.

“At Green GSM, sustainability is not just a mission—it’s a mindset embedded in every ride, every decision, every partnership,” said Ms. Phan Thi Hong Dung, Director of Training and Culture Development at GSM. “This award affirms our belief that the future of mobility is not only electric, but also responsible, inclusive, and deeply human-centered.”

Setting the Standard for Green Mobility

Green GSM stood out among this year’s AREA honorees with its three-part model: operating a fully owned fleet of VinFast electric vehicles, enabling individual EV owners to join via the Xanh SM Platform, and partnering with traditional taxi operators to support their electrification journey. While this flexible system is already active in Vietnam and select international markets, it has yet to launch in the Philippines, where the company recently opened operations in Metro Manila on June 10, 2025.

Since launching just two years ago, Green GSM has expanded to Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines, logging over 300 million zero-emission trips and covering 1.7 billion kilometers — avoiding more than 211,000 tons of CO₂, equal to the annual absorption capacity of 3,200 hectares of forest.

Back home, Green GSM dominates Vietnam’s EV taxi market with a nearly 40% market share, partnering with close to 100 transport companies, including well-known names like Mai Linh, G7 Taxi, and Lado Taxi. Nineteen companies have already completed full fleet conversions to EVs, signaling a national shift: green mobility is no longer an alternative—it’s the new norm.

Vietnam’s Green Wave Goes Regional

The AREA 2025 theme, “A Necessary Shift to a Regenerative Economy,” reflects the growing demand for businesses to not only reduce harm but actively restore ecosystems. Green GSM embodies this shift, proving that Vietnam can be a hub for scalable, high-impact innovation with global relevance.

With operations now spanning four Southeast Asian countries, Green GSM has become the second-largest ride-hailing platform in the region, and the only one powered entirely by electric vehicles. Its ability to scale across diverse markets—despite differences in infrastructure and user behavior—speaks to its operational excellence and long-term regional vision as a proudly Vietnamese brand.

“Each ride with Green GSM is more than just a trip—it’s a commitment to a greener, better future for cities across Asia,” Ms. Dung added.
