MOVE IT Strengthens Road Safety Commitment with MMDA Partnership

MOVE IT, the homegrown motorcycle taxi company, is reaffirming its dedication to road safety through a meaningful collaboration with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). As part of this partnership, MOVE IT has donated brand-new helmets to the MMDA’s Motorcycle Riding Academy (MRA), furthering the agency’s mission to make two-wheel training courses more accessible to both aspiring and current motorcycle riders.

The MRA provides free training sessions led by expert instructors, offering a curriculum that caters to both beginners and experienced riders. Since participants are required to bring their own gear, the donation of new helmets helps reduce one of the key barriers to enrolling in the free courses.

This donation marks the latest step in the longstanding collaboration between MOVE IT and MMDA. Their previous initiatives have included MMDA’s facilitation of road safety courses for MOVE IT’s rider community, both through on-the-ground training and the MOVE IT Academy, an in-app platform dedicated to rider-partner education. MOVE IT has also contributed essential equipment, such as agility cones, rider vests, and tents, to further support the MRA’s efforts.

Wayne Jacinto, General Manager of MOVE IT, emphasized the importance of ongoing training and education as the number of two-wheel drivers, both private and commercial, continues to grow. “It’s crucial that our two-wheel motorists have access to educational programs that prioritize safety on the road,” Jacinto said. “MOVE IT fully supports initiatives like the MRA, as road safety is a shared responsibility among all transport stakeholders. It is important that we—platforms, government agencies, and others—work together to ensure that we are making our roads safer every day.”

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes expressed his gratitude to MOVE IT for its continuous support of the agency’s goal to make Metro Manila’s roads safer for both commuters and drivers. “MMDA is proud to partner with MOVE IT and other private sector players in promoting road safety. A unified industry approach is key to fostering a culture of discipline and a safety-first mindset on our streets. This donation is just the beginning of many more road safety initiatives MMDA and MOVE IT will undertake this year.”
