JBL and Infinity Car Audio have been leading brands in the Mobile Audio world for several years now. Their reputation for quality and performance has built a solid following in the local market. This year, 2023, marks a milestone for the JBL and Infinity Car Audio brands. Both brands relaunch in the country under a new distribution partner with two main activities for the quarter – an exclusive media event last April 12, 2023 and the brands’ participation in this year’s Manla International Auto Show (MIAS) last April 13 to 16, 2023.
Their MIAS exhibit featured vehicles specially prepared and tuned by EMMA (European Mobile Media Association) Philippines certified custom installers.
During the exclusive media event, members of the Philippine motoring media were present. Also present were automotive and lifestyle content creators, and select car club representatives. The event was hosted by radio personally, SamYG who also happens to be JBL fan.
Making the event extra special was the presence of Mr. Shan Wong, Asia Pacific Manager for Product Planning and Strategy (Car Audio) from Harman International. He flew in from Singapore to give an in-depth discussion into the brands and respective product lines. The event was geared to reintroduce JBL and Infinity Car Audio to a new generation of Philippine car owners and to rekindle the excitement and curiosity of upgrading one’s in-car listening experience.
The event also gave an opportunity to distinguish the brands from each other, despite both being under the Harman International umbrella. JBL Car Audio embodies the personality of a live concert that is akin to the likes of band music, which is aligned with its generational tagline, “Loud & Clear.” The signature characteristic that can be expected of a JBL system is the experience of a sound stage, leaning toward performance and bass.
Infinity Car Audio, on the other hand, puts emphasis on bringing out finer musical details and characteristics, particularly preferred by listeners of jazz and instrumentals, the blues, or vocal tracks. Attendees were given a look into the full range of JBL and Infinity products, how each product tier differs from the other, and what can be expected of a properly defined car audio set-up.
JBL and Infinity Philippines prepared 6 demo cars that were fitted with systems that were installed and tuned by some of the best car audio installers in the industry. Everyone was treated to an exclusive listening session to better appreciate what it’s like to have a proper car audio upgrade.
On showcase was JBL’s various product models starting with the JBL STADIUM, the brand’s current top-of-the-line hi-fi SQ series that is engineered to bring out the powerful, iconic JBL sound through sleek and multi-element speakers and component systems.
JBL’s mid-range line is the JBL CLUB. This series was created to deliver superior JBL performance and fit into most factory speaker locations, taking the in-cabin experience a notch level higher than a regular upgrade — perfect for car audio beginners.
When newbies are ready to invest a step up on sound quality, the recently-launched JBL CLUB SQ is the series to take them there, as the brand’s attainable SQ line, positioned right below the Stadium.
Likewise, on showcase were different Infinity models. The KAPPA PERFECT represents the brand’s premium flagship series that delivers hi-fi sound quality performance, with high power handling, high SPL capability, and designed for unparalleled response to bring out the finest musical details.
Right below the Kappa Perfect is the INFINITY KAPPA line, created for the perfect blend of deep, robust bass and excellent detail delivery. The Kappa is also known for its refined aesthetic, featuring two-tone component and tweeter designs.
The Infinity mid-range is the REFERENCE series. This product tier is perfected for first-timers, as the entry point toward the full Infinity experience. With the Reference, listeners can expect the same signature Infinity sound and clarity from coaxial and component speakers that are optimized to fit most factory speaker locations. All in all, a step for car audio newbies to have an appreciation for sound quality and the potentials of a better system.
