Riding safety is very important and helmets are at the top of riding safety equipment lists. With that in mind, two new helmet lines were launched into the Philippine market last weekend.
The Nomad and Jarama helmets are classic and retro-styled helmets that were recently introduced into the Philippine market at the Bound To Be Classic tambike event at SMDC Fame Mall in Mandaluyong. The event was well attended with representatives from several riding groups. Present were members of the Kymco Lady Riders, RE North, Fazzio Club of the Philippines, Ride Rats, Active big Bikes, Vespiga, Vespa Club of the Philippines, Vespa Lady Riders, Tambay ng Escolta, SkootGoons, Titos of Escolta, Vespa Club of Antipolo, Vespa Club of Batangas, Vespa Club of Marikina, Vespa Club of Pasay, Vespa Club of Pasig, Vespa Club of Sampaloc, Vesparados, Vesputi, Laqwachicas, WKDN Crew MNL and Vespa QC.
Fun and games highlighted the event with several of the attendees winning prizes. The event was hosted by Spyder , MT Helmets and SMDC Fame Mall. Event sponsors were Repsol, Jabbre, Black Mamba, Blaupunkt and Fresh n Ride.
Now let’s get into the released helmets.
The Nomad line of helmets are available in full-face (Spitfire) and half-face (Rafa) variants. Both variants share a classic-style Spyder concept that features ABS shell construction and plush interior lining pads. The Rafa comes in white, matte black and grey while the Spitfire comes in white, matte black, grey and green. Spitfire also comes with graphics in white/orange/yellow, white/blue/red and matte black/grey.
Weights are 1,250grams +/-50g for the Spitfire and 1,150 grams +/-50grams for the Rafa. Retail pricing is affordable with the Spitfire coming in at Php 3,795.00 (the graphics version retails for Php 200.00 more) while the Rafa comes in at Php 2,795.00.
The Jarama is a retro-styled helmet from MT Helmets from Spain. It was designed to commemorate the more than 5 decades of history of the brand.

The Jarama has a full-face helmet design that surpasses international standards with a high impact resistant polymer shell (HIRPS) and a multiple density inner polystyrene layer that is coupled with an inner lining that has high impact absorption. Other features include an anti-scratch visor with a locking system and quick release buckle system.
Colors are solid pearl white and matte black with gold accents around specific openings. Tasteful graphic designs are also available on the Jarama in pearl white/blue/red and grey/black/red. The solid colored Jarama retails at Php 6,200.00 with graphic designs costing around Php 300.00 more.
The Nomad and Jarama are now available at Spyder’s official flagship store on Lazada. Both helmet lines are also available at RideLab Baguio, RideLab Cebu. The Jarama product line is also available at GearUP Market and Trinoma.
Nomad and Jarama are both distributed by Roshan Commercial Corporation, adding to the company’s already extensive line of helmets.
