From Pole to Podium: Iñigo Anton Rules TGR Philippines’ Tamaraw Cup Weekend at ClS

The roar of engines and the pounding rain couldn’t stop Motul-backed racer Iñigo Anton of Obengers Racing from delivering yet another masterclass in Philippine motorsports. Already a multi-time TGR Vios Cup champion, Anton proved once again why he’s considered the country’s brightest racing prodigy, conquering the Tamaraw One-Make Race (OMR) category with precision, grit, and flair.

Friday: Pole and a Statement Win

Anton wasted no time setting the tone. On Friday, he stormed to pole position, laying down a lap that left rivals chasing shadows. In Race 1, he converted that advantage flawlessly, leading every lap and crossing the line with a 4-second cushion over Oliver Aquino. It was a textbook drive, the kind that makes dominance look effortless.

Saturday: Reverse Grid, No Problem

Race 2 brought drama. With reverse grid rules pushing him back to 6th place, Anton had to fight his way forward. What followed was a showcase of his racecraft: bold overtakes on Raymond Cudala and Alain Alzona, executed with precision and confidence. By the closing laps, Anton had carved through the pack to take his second win of the weekend, proving he thrives under pressure.

Sunday: Rain and Restraint

The final race was a wet-weather test. Again, starting from 6th, Anton aimed for the perfect hat trick. The rain made grip scarce, but he kept his cool, climbing to second place behind Russell Reyes. It wasn’t just about speed, it was about strategy. “It was quite tough to overtake in the rain because there’s less grip, but I am very happy to secure 2nd place coming from a reverse grid,” Anton said. “Russell Reyes drove an amazing and very strategic race. I didn’t want to force mistakes or crash out and lose points. Two wins and a second-place finish is a great result for our championship campaign.”

The Gear That Carries Him

Anton’s weekend wasn’t just powered by talent — it was backed by trusted partners. His car ran flawlessly with Motul lubricants, the same oil relied upon by champions worldwide and proudly distributed in Luzon by Infiniteserv International. In conditions that swung from dry heat to torrential rain, Motul’s consistency gave Anton the confidence to push hard without worrying about reliability.

Complementing the machine was Anton himself, protected and equipped in Alpinestars racing suit, gloves, and shoes. Alpinestars is trusted by the world’s best drivers and likewise distributed locally by Infiniteserv International. The combination of Motul’s performance under the hood and Alpinestars’ safety and comfort on the driver made the difference in a weekend that demanded everything from man and machine.

A Champion in the Making

With two wins and a runner-up finish, Anton extended his lead in the championship standings. His versatility, from formula cars to production cars and even trucks; continues to set him apart, mirroring his success both locally and abroad. Beyond the TGR Philippine Cup, Anton is preparing to represent the Philippines in international Formula Car and Gymkhana competitions, carrying the flag for Filipino motorsport on the global stage.

Anton’s weekend at Clark wasn’t just another victory. It was a reminder that the Philippines has a racer capable of shaping the future of motorsport; fast, fearless, and ready for the world.
