Max Verstappen produced a scintillating display at the Austrian Grand Prix to make it three victories in succession and extend his 2021 title lead over Lewis Hamilton to 32 points.

The 23-year-old Dutchman dominated from the start to the finish at the Red Bull Ring to secure his fifth victory of the season and delight the fans at the home of Red Bull Racing Honda, while Mexican teammate Sergio Pérez finished in sixth place.

Scuderia AlphaTauri Honda’s Pierre Gasly produced another strong showing as he finished in ninth position, with rookie teammate Yuki Tsunoda finishing in 12th.

Following the race, Verstappen said: “Incredible to be honest… the car was on rails. Every tyre set we put on it was really enjoyable to drive. I’m a bit amazed today how today went, I didn’t expect it to be like this.
“When you go into the weekend everyone sees you as the favourite but it’s never easy to always deliver what we did today, so a great effort by the whole team.
“Insane to see all the fans here. So much orange is incredible. A great motivation.”
