PACS Resumes Autocross Series

Autocrossing as a motorsport is one of the grassroots level competitions any enthusiast can participate in to get that speed ‘itch’ scratched. You learn the basics of car control and how to maximize your car’s potential in order the get the quickest time possible. You and your car competes against yourselves first and foremost.

PACS (Philippine Autocross Championship Series) has been around for the past 21 years promoting this kind form of motorsport. With the sudden interruption of the series back in early 2020 due the current health situation, #PACSisBack with the 4th round of their 2020-2021 series which resumed in the 1st half of this month, September. With every participant itching to scratch their ‘itch’, competition was tight in most categories.

The venue was the wide and open space at the R33 Drift Track in San Simon, Pampanga. A perfect venue for this kind of racing. Nothing to hit or crash into, unlees you count the cones that laid out the mark the course. Perfectly safe as far as motorsports is concerned.

Race day was unceremonously wet for a majority of the day which meant car control was far more important than outright engine power. The day’s wet racing conditions didn’t seem to faze competitors. With the only problems during the entire day were forgotten path of travels resulting in DNFs in their individual runs. The hotly contested Best Time of the Day had a few competitors going back and forth to outdo the other’s time until the very last second of the race day.
