Resultado Racing’s Mikel Fuentes Finished P3 at International Asian Karting Open Championship Night Race

Mikel Fuentes has undoubtedly left a mark in the Philippine go-karting scene after his outstanding performance in the recently concluded Asian Karting Open Championship. The 17-year-old rookie go-karter only began professionally racing this 2023, making a gigantic splash in the local ROK GP Cup and the ROTAX MAX Challenge Series within the Senior Clubman division.

With the guidance of Coach Milo Rivera and assistance from Coach Bern Corpino of Resultado Racing, he has unlocked his fullest potential. Successfully competing in the expert level and going head-to-head with some of the most seasoned go-karters in the country. In the last leg of the International Asian Karting Open Championship, a prestigious competition that has traditionally been held in Macau and culminated at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga, Mikel proved his mettle, finishing 2nd Runner Up in both the Formula 125 Senior Open and ROK GP Senior categories. It was no easy feat. On day one, Mikel started sixth on the grid for Qualifying Heat 1, but had to overcome a small accident in turn three. Yet, he finished strong despite dropping to P11, clocking a very competitive time even with a bent steering column. He further proved his dominance in Qualifying Heats 2 and 3, starting from P6 but finishing P4, setting the fastest time in both. He didn’t stop there and clocked the second-fastest time during the warm-up session on the day two.

In the Pre-Final, starting from fifth position, he diced with expert go-karters, dropping down to sixth and seventh at one point before making his way up to 4th at a blistering 47.23. Unfortunately, due to a dropped bumper, Mikel received a five-second penalty and finished in sixth position on the Finals grid. Nonetheless, he refused to be deterred by this challenge and put up a fierce fight, starting at sixth and slowly making his way past the other go-karters as his tires heated up.

Mikel’s hard work and patience have contributed significantly to his success. He acknowledges that none of his achievements would have been possible without the support of his team. As a member of Resultado Racing, the team’s exceptional coaching, training, mechanics, and the camaraderie among teammates have been instrumental in his win. The Asian Karting Open Championship has proven to be a tremendous test of the team’s capabilities, bolstering their confidence in this debut race.

As the 2024 season approaches, Resultado Racing is confident that Mikel can lead his teammates as Captain, promising a successful year ahead. Mikel has proven himself to be a rising star in the Philippine go-karting scene, and the future looks bright for both him and Resultado Racing, along with the support of Malayan Insurance and Resultado Gourmet Designs, Co.
