The Le Mans Grand Prix ends on a positive note for the MV Agusta Forward Racing team which conquers its first TOP10 of 2021. Despite the initial uncertain conditions, the race was immediately declared dry, with an air temperature of 16ºC.
Simone Corsi, who started 17th on the grid, lost several positions when the lights turn off, finding himself 24th at the end of the first lap. The Italian rider has then led a race all in recovery, gaining 15 positions and crossing the finish line ninth in the standings. “In a particular day I can say that Simone has been able to give his best. He was able to manage the race well and today he showed that the strategy he put in place was definitely the right one. He finished ninth but he had the chance to get up to sixth place. So I would say that has been a positive race. Good job Simone”. These are the words of the chief technician Mauro Noccioli.
Lorenzo Baldassarri, on the other side of the box, has made a great start, recovering in the first two laps 7 positions. Unfortunately a long run on the fourth lap saw him slip to 25th place. He crossed the finish line 18th. “It was a missed opportunity because we were in good shape. Both the rider and the team have done well. Unfortunately these are the races, but what keeps me positive is that the pace was good and we found the right feeling. We remain focused and we project ourselves with this spirit directly to the home race”, says the chief technician Riccardo Vareschi.

Tommaso Marcon, who brought home good improvements during the weekend, led the first laps with determination. Unfortunately, due to the compartment syndrome he suffers from in his right forearm, Marcon was not able to keep the same pace of the first laps until the end, thus losing ground. “The race was however constructive. The final result does not satisfy, it is obvious, because the prospects were better, but this is largely due to his right arm problem that has definitely compromised the race.” Massimo Biagini, Tommaso’s chief technician, explains.

The next appointment will be in two weekends for the first of the two home races of the season, Mugello.
Simone Corsi – Rider #24
“Finally today after four races we bring home a good result. Despite the fact that the season started in an unlucky way for me, today I am very happy. During the first laps of the race the conditions were not very good, in fact I lost some positions, but I chose not to give up because the feeling was very good and I felt good on the bike. I caught up the leading group and came up well. In the last laps maybe I could have gained some more positions but I preferred not to risk too much. I’m happy for me and for the whole team, we know we are still a young project that still has a lot to do, but we are working hard and now we go to Mugello even more confident”.
Lorenzo Baldassarri – Rider #7
“Let’s say we can go home satisfied after this weekend. Despite the final result we were competitive in all conditions. Unfortunately we know that we still have work to do. At the beginning of the race I had come up well, I had taken advantage of the uncertain track conditions to recover positions. Unfortunately at the beginning of T3 I lost the front load and I lost the rear due to a gust of wind, I couldn’t brake and I went off the track. But I’m happy to have finished the race, we collected good data and I’m happy because we had a good pace and we are competitive. Now we go to Mugello full of energy!”
Tommaso Marcon – Rider #10
“The race started quite well, I was with the group and in the first laps I was going well. But then I started to suffer pain in the arm as in Jerez because of the compartment syndrome and for this reason I was not able to improve. Anyway I thank the whole team for the work done”.
Giovanni Cuzari – Team Owner
“All the efforts that the guys in the team are doing for a long time with dedication and passion are bringing little by little their fruits. I’m very happy for this 9th position of Simone, even if it remains a little bitter for Balda that could have closed today around the fifth position. Thanks to all our partners and a big thank you to our mechanics that once again have been put to hard condition reacting with great professionalism.
See you at Mugello”.
