The mountain backroads and trails of Antipolo, Rizal was alive with activity by offroad aficionados at the Alpinestars Offroad Fun Trail last weekend. Being their first ever event focusing on the aspect of offroad motorcycling, Alpinestars Philippines organized a day of absolute fun and offroad motorcycling.
The previous day’s heavy rainfall didn’t dampen the spirit of the participants and organizers, in fact, seasoned riders welcomed the previous day’s rains. Situated beside a riverbed, basecamp was wet and muddy from the rains the previous night. But to the serious offroaders, they welcomed the rains the night before, it meant that they would have a very interesting time traversing through the designated route. Around 70 participants and guest riders arrived to experience this first event.
Also in attendance were Alpinestars Asia Pacific representatives, namely, Penny Tang, Silvia De Navasquez and Luca Gaspariniy. With Silvia De Navasquez trying out the route riding pillion.
Speaking of designated routes, the participants were gathered together for a briefing of what the day holds for the participants. The briefing was conducted by multi-awarded on and offroad racer Rey Relativo. After the riders were briefed, advanced riders were first to get a shot at route followed by the beginner riders. Each group of riders was allotted roughly an hour to complete the route and head back to basecamp to have a sumptuous meal before heading back out on the route for more fun.
After multiple times around the route, the participants congregated at basecamp for the late time at the end of the day to receive certificates and trophies for the most number of times they went around the route.
All in all, it was a day of fun-filled day for all the participants without any injuries throughout the day. Everyone had so much so much fun that plans are currently afoot to organize this kind of event once again. But as this little birdie overheard a conversation by the organizers, there are talks of doing the event more than once a year. We can hope and look forward to more offroad events from Alpinestars.
