Previewed the Highly Anticipated Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw, Here’s What We Know

Toyota Pasig rolled out the fiesta atmosphere for a sneak peek of an automotive legend soon to hit Philippine roads. Imagine Toyota Pasig’s usually a sleek and polished showroom space, transformed into a vibrant fiesta hall complete with colorful buntings, lively food stalls and, of course, a brass band bringing the house down with classic and modern hits. Majorettes twirled and dazzled, setting the stage for an electrifying atmosphere as everyone eagerly awaited the star of the show: the Next Generation Tamaraw. Before the grand sneak peek, the crowd warmed up with some fun games, and lucky winners walked away with special edition prizes.

Toyota first unleashed the Tamaraw back in 1977 and it quickly became a beloved companion for several generations of Filipinos. This Asian Utility Vehicle (AUV) was more than just a ride; it was a trusty partner for every adventure, be it shuttling a whole basketball team or carrying everything but the kitchen sink. There was even an iconic TV commercial where Anjanette Abayari, playing the superheroine Darna, dubbed it the “Wonder Vehicle” and it certainly lived up to the name.

Fast forward to today and with the local market’s growing demand for versatile utility vehicles, Toyota Motor Philippines is answering the call with the all-new Next Generation Tamaraw. The sneak preview at Toyota Pasig didn’t disappoint, classic Filipino superheroes made an appearance and the Tamaraw was showcased in its many avatars, including an ambulance and a police patrol vehicle. It was clear this Tamaraw is ready to save the day in more ways than one.

This new Tamaraw will offer multiple variants, catering to every need—personal, business, or heavy-duty workhorse. The options are plenty, from the Dropside 5MT to the top-tier Dropside HI 6AT, with payload capacities ranging from 830 to 1100 lbs. It comes with two engine choices: the robust 2GD-FTV diesel and the dependable 1TR-FE gasoline engine. But the real showstopper? The Dropside HI variant.

Picture this: sleek 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with DRL, a sharp black and orange trim, and a 7-inch head unit equipped with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. It has got all the bells and whistles to make any car enthusiast’s heart race.

As for the price? Expect it to fall somewhere between Php 750,000 and 1,100,000, but keep your fingers crossed—the final SRP is still up in the air. Get ready, Philippines, because the Next Generation Tamaraw is revving up to be your new favorite ride!
