In the wake of the devastating magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck offshore Mindanao on June 8, Vietnamese enterprises VinFast, V-Green, VinEnergo, and Green GSM have launched an emergency relief program worth more than ₱50 million to aid recovery efforts and help affected communities rebuild their lives.
The disaster left a trail of destruction across the Soccsksargen and Davao regions, claiming at least 45 lives, injuring hundreds, and forcing more than 25,000 residents to evacuate. Homes, schools, roads, bridges, and public infrastructure suffered extensive damage, disrupting daily life and causing significant economic hardship.
To respond swiftly, the companies have allocated targeted relief: ₱20 million each to General Santos City and Sarangani Province, and ₱10 million to Davao Occidental Province. These funds will support priority recovery programs identified by local governments, focusing on restoring essential services, stabilizing communities, and rebuilding infrastructure.
Beyond institutional aid, the program also extends direct financial assistance of ₱100,000 to families who lost loved ones, a gesture of solidarity and compassion during this difficult time.
Mr. Dao Quy Phi, Director of Investment and External Relations of Vingroup in the Philippines, emphasized the companies’ commitment: “The losses suffered by the people of Mindanao are immense. During challenging times like these, we believe that the collective efforts of businesses and communities can help provide resources, hope, and encouragement. As Vietnamese companies with long-term investments in the Philippines, we are committed to standing alongside local authorities and communities in the recovery process.”
The relief program will be rolled out throughout June 2026 in close coordination with local authorities, ensuring that aid reaches those most in need. Through this initiative, VinFast, V-Green, VinEnergo, and Green GSM aim not only to contribute meaningfully to disaster recovery but also to reaffirm their role as responsible partners in the Philippines — a key market for Vietnamese enterprises in the region.
This effort reflects a broader vision: that corporate responsibility extends beyond business, becoming a lifeline for communities in times of crisis. By standing with Mindanao, these companies demonstrate that rebuilding lives and restoring hope is a shared mission.
