Edgar Lau (HKG) will be heading to Dubai Autodrome to take part in the first two rounds of the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series. The 30-year-old Hong Kong driver will be racing for the only Chinese team on the grid, YC Panda Racing in the #66 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II along with teammates Douglas Khoo (MYS) and Bashar Mardini (CAN). Lau will be kick-starting his 2022 season, racing in Dubai for the first time in his professional career.

Lau will be taking part in Races 1 and 2 of the 2022 Asian Le Mans in the GT (AM) class. He is eager and determined to perform well at the Dubai Autodrome, with this opportunity being another big step towards his dream of competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He is not unfamiliar with the ALMS, having won in the LMP3 class at the ALMS Sprint Cup Sepang round in 2016. This will, however, be the first time Lau will drive the Evo II version of the Audi R8 LMS GT3, which has more than proven itself to be a competitive package. Lau will be looking to put in a strong showing and extract the maximum from the machine over two 4-hour races.

Lau famously started racing in e-sports, making the jump from simulators to the race track in 2012. He graduated from the Nissan Gran Turismo Academy in 2014 before taking part in several globally renowned races like the Macau Guia Race, Asian Le Mans Series Sprint Cup and Road to Le Mans. He has been competing in the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) since 2018 where Lau has claimed the championship in 3 out of 4 classes. In 2021, Lau qualified for the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) National Runoffs and placed 5th in class at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
