Motostrada introduces Longjia Motorcycles to the Philippine moto market

Seemingly in line with the easing up of the restrictions for health protocols for much of the country, Motostrada has chosen this moment in time to launch a new brand of motorcycles under their proverbial cap. Welcome Longjia Motorcycles. This brings the total to 4 brands under the Motostrada banner.

Longjia Motorcycles is a brand that has established itself in the European and American markets either as their own brand or rebranded to other brands. As it is, Longjia is a OEM and ODM supplier with international standard certifications for production.

Longjia Motorcycles whose origins come from the land of mass production, China, comes to our shores with an initial model called the V-Bob 250i that is powered by V-twin engine and, as you might have guessed, 250cc. The Longjia V-Bob 250i is an American-style cruiser perfect for local daily commutes.

Dimensions are a big-ish at 2230mm long, 920mm wide and 1090mm tall for a 250cc category cruiser. It’s comparable to a certain Japanese cruiser with twice the displacement. Comfortable seating and riding position for a great majority of Filipino riders with a 715mm seat height. Operating the V-Bob 250i is easy the controls within easy reach for both the hands and feet. Weight is a managable 179 kilograms but the weight is found mostly down low on the frame.

Power from the air-cooled, fuel injected, DOHC V-twin powerplant lump is a reliable 18hp and roughly 12 ft-lbs of torque. I know it isn’t huge power numbers but what it lacks in power figures, it makes up in fuel economy figures to tune of 3 liters/100 kilometers travelled according to factory testing figures. That translates to a whole lot of cruising with it’s 20 liter fuel tank. Of course fuel economy will depend on the rider and riding conditions. With current fuel prices skyrocketing, 3 liters/100 kilometers does look good on paper.

Engine power is transmitted through a 5-speed transmission and gets to the wheel via a drive belt, very Harley Davidson-ish feature. Stopping duties are handled by discs in the front and rear , with Combined Braking System (CBS).

Suspension duties are handled by inverted telescopic forks in front and dual coil over dampers in the rear. Coupled with 16-inch wheels on both ends of the motorcycle. Rounding out the features list is full LED lighting in the front and rear. Instrumentation is a lone analog tachometer mounted on the gas tank with a digital speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer inset within.

The Longjia V-Bob 250i is an American-style, Harley Davidson-ish cruiser the looks poised to take on the Philippine market.
