Kia Philippines celebrated more than just a best-selling vehicle this weekend — it celebrated a passionate community. The Kia Sonet Pilipinas Club, composed of proud owners and fans of the Kia Sonet, came together for their first and biggest grand meet at Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The event marked a major milestone: the first anniversary of the Sonet’s launch in the country in June 2024.
The gathering drew 60 Sonet units in a record-breaking convoy from Alabang to Nuvali — the largest Kia convoy in the country to date — spotlighting the Sonet’s incredible rise as the subcompact SUV of choice for Filipino drivers.
“Nearly 1 in 4 entry-level B-SUVs sold in the Philippines today is a Kia Sonet,” said Jay Lopez, Managing Director of Kia Philippines. “This event reflects the strong connection between the vehicle and its growing community of owners.”

The Kia Sonet has quickly earned a reputation for delivering style, versatility, and practicality. With its compact size, fuel efficiency, and advanced features, it appeals to first-time drivers, young professionals, and families alike.
“I’ve taken my Sonet from Las Piñas to Baguio with ease — no stress, just style and comfort,” shared Julienne Bonacua, President of the Kia Sonet Pilipinas Club. “It’s my daily go-to and now a symbol of connection within our community.”
A Community on the Move
The real star of the event was the community spirit. What started as a group of like-minded Sonet enthusiasts has blossomed into a tight-knit club where members bond over car tips, mods, and memorable road trips.
“I chose the Kia Sonet for its manual transmission and tech, but it became even more special when I drove it to my wedding,” said club member Darrenz Genel. “The grand meet let me finally connect with other owners and exchange ideas.”
The Nuvali event featured a car showcase, social meet-up, and convoy, turning strangers into friends — all united by one car.
Award-Winning and Industry-Recognized
The Sonet’s strong market performance is matched by critical acclaim. It was named:
-
“Underrated Car of the Year” by Top Gear Philippines
-
“Best First Car” by AutoIndustriya
It also leads the segment with innovations like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), showing Kia’s commitment to safety, quality, and accessibility.
“Kia ownership is more than a vehicle — it’s about confidence, connection, and creating moments that inspire,” Lopez added. “We’re proud to support the Sonet Pilipinas Club in building a community that grows with every journey.”
