PIAA Twin Power Magnet, Oil filters with a magnetic personality

PIAA is a brand that we are all familiar with. PIAA has established itself as a one of the leading Japanese brands for lighting systems in vehicles. They offer replacement headlights, bulbs and auxiliary lighting systems. Often seen used in grueling competitions , they gained popularity in automotive circles.

Through the years, we have grown to learn that as a brand, they have had other product lines that automotive enthusiasts may find interesting. At one point, they even offered aftermarket wheels. Nowadays though, they have streamlined their product line to automotive products that are beneficial to the consumer.

One of the products in their current line-up is an oil filter that makes sure you have contaminant-free lubrication circulating in your engine. As we all know, engine oil is the lifeblood of our engines. Keeping it clean as it circulates through the engine is of utmost importance for the longevity of the engine. The Twin Power Magnet is one oil filter with a welcome twist.

Normally, engine oil flows through the oil filter getting scrubbed of contaminants by a paper element. But PIAA’s Twin Power Magnet oil filter does one better. The oil gets filtered by two paper elements within the filter’s housing. It goes through a 20-micron paper filtration then a 10-micron paper filtration. Contaminants in the oil are filtered by as much as 150%  better than conventional oil filters.

And if that’s not enough for you, PIAA includes a 100 millitesla magnet ring in between the two paper elements to capture and hold metal particulates brought about by normal wear and tear of the metal components of the engine.

With all the filtering going on, PIAA thought that oil flow through the filter maybe a limiting factor for performance. As a result, they designed the Twin Power Magnet oil filter with enlarged oil inlet ports to flow better, enhancing oil filtration and eliminating power loss. As much as 170% better oil flow rates compared to regular oil filters can be seen.

PIAA designed the Twin Power Magnet with economy in mind too. When religiously servicing your engine with a fresh batch of lubricants, you are able to stretch oil change intervals, compared to conventional oil filters, due to the better filtering performance of the filter. On a personal note, after 5,000 kilometers or so of driving, the oil’s condition in the crankcase of our daily driver looked pretty good with the oil being clear for the most part. Do take note though that PIAA’s Twin Power Magnet oil filters are primarily meant for gasoline engine use and not for diesel engine applications.

Now for applications, PIAA’s Twin Power Magnet oil filter is primarily compatible with vehicles of Japanese lineage. Car brands such as Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru and Toyota will have a filter compatible for them. You may get in touch with the official Philippine PIAA distributor through their official Facebook and Instagram accounts for more details.
