The iconic Silverstone Circuit lived up to its reputation as the 2025 British Grand Prix delivered a rollercoaster of a race—complete with unpredictable rain, strategic gambles, and standout performances. In the midst of the downpour and drama, Scuderia Ferrari HP emerged with mixed fortunes as Lewis Hamilton crossed the line in P4 and Charles Leclerc battled through to P14.
The story began before the lights even went out, as a handful of drivers—including Leclerc—opted to pit after the formation lap, switching from Intermediate to Medium tyres in hopes of gaining an early edge. The move forced them to start from the pitlane, adding another layer of complexity to an already uncertain race.
A virtual safety car was triggered on lap 2 following Liam Lawson’s incident, but the real shake-up came on lap 11 when the heavens opened. Hamilton dove into the pits for a fresh set of Intermediates, while Leclerc reversed course back to Inters as a full Safety Car was deployed. Conditions deteriorated quickly—standing water, poor visibility, and slippery tarmac challenged even the most experienced drivers.

As the race evolved, a drying line teased teams into contemplating slicks, but those who took the plunge too early paid the price with off-track excursions and lost positions.
In the closing stages, Hamilton hunted down third-placed Nico Hülkenberg, pushing hard to secure a podium finish on home soil. Despite falling just short, his strong drive showed promise. Meanwhile, Leclerc’s bold strategy call didn’t pay off, hampered by setup choices that didn’t translate well in wet conditions.
Lewis Hamilton #44: “Not the result we were targeting, but we’re making progress. I felt like third was possible at points and hats off to Nico for a brilliant drive.
Silverstone always delivers something special, and the crowd was phenomenal—nothing quite like racing at home.”
Charles Leclerc #16: “It was a difficult one, start to finish. I gambled on slicks early on, but unfortunately, our pace wasn’t there.
My setup was quite aggressive, which worked in the dry, but not in today’s extreme conditions. We’ve got work to do, and credit to Nico on the podium.”
Fred Vasseur, Team Principal: “Today’s race was chaos in every sense—changing weather, multiple Safety Cars, and unpredictable tyre windows. Charles made a bold call on slicks, and while it didn’t pay off, it showed initiative. McLaren was quicker, but we gained on Mercedes and Red Bull, which is encouraging. Now it’s about carrying this progress into Spa and nailing every detail next time out.”
