Charles, Lewis, and Dino Ready to Take on Spielberg

Formula 1 returns to Europe following the high-speed drama of Montreal, kicking off a back-to-back double-header with the Austrian Grand Prix at Spielberg, followed by Silverstone. First up: the picturesque yet punishing Red Bull Ring, nestled in the Styrian mountains near Graz, where Scuderia Ferrari HP is set to field a three-driver lineup once again.

As part of the sport’s commitment to developing emerging talent, Dino Beganovic, a rising star from the Ferrari Driver Academy, will get his second outing of the season in Free Practice 1, stepping into Charles Leclerc’s SF-25 on Friday. The Swedish rookie, who already impressed earlier this year in Bahrain, is fulfilling the FIA mandate requiring race drivers to yield their seat to a young driver (with no more than two Grand Prix starts) twice a season.

Welcome to the Red Bull Ring: Speed, Elevation, and Precision

Short but mighty, the 4.318 km circuit features just ten corners—but don’t let that number fool you. With three DRS zones packed into a fast lap that takes just over a minute, Spielberg is a masterclass in high-stakes efficiency. Precision under braking—especially at Turns 3, 4, and the downhill plunge at Turn 9—is as crucial as traction out of slower sections.

And with seven right-handers and dramatic elevation changes, the Austrian track tests both car balance and driver bravery. Overtaking opportunities are frequent, setting the stage for wheel-to-wheel action and thrilling strategy plays.

Unpredictable Weather, Strategic Opportunities

The Styrian mountains are as beautiful as they are unpredictable. Weather can shift in moments—from blazing sunshine to sudden downpours—making Spielberg a dream for fans and a challenge for race engineers. While last year featured a Sprint weekend, the Grand Prix returns to a traditional format in 2025:

  • Friday: FP1 at 13:30 CEST, FP2 at 17:00

  • Saturday: FP3 at 12:30, followed by Qualifying at 16:00

  • Sunday: Lights out at 15:00 for a 71-lap race, totaling 306.452 km

Maximizing Every Millisecond

At a circuit where the field can be separated by mere thousandths, executing a flawless lap is everything. With so little margin for error, every detail—from car setup to tyre strategy to pit stop timing—can tip the balance between pole position and the midfield.

Back in Maranello, the team has worked intensively to optimize every aspect of performance. With Charles, Lewis, and the entire Scuderia Ferrari HP crew fully focused, expectations are high as they aim to extract maximum potential from the SF-25 at one of the most unpredictable and exciting tracks on the calendar.

Fred Vasseur, Team Principal:
“Spielberg demands precision and adaptability—on the track and in the garage. We’ve been working relentlessly to bring everything together for this race. Charles, Lewis, and the team are fully motivated to deliver a strong performance at a venue that never fails to entertain.”
