MXGP Sweden: Ducati’s Seewer Comeback Courage, Guadagnini’s Top 10 Triumph

The 16th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship unfolded on the rugged terrain of Uddevalla, a historic venue nestled along Sweden’s southwest coast that has hosted summer MXGP showdowns for over five decades. With its hard-packed surface laced with granite and sand from a nearby quarry, the track demanded precision, power, and resilience—and it delivered a weekend full of highs and heartbreaks.

Jeremy Seewer, qualifying 14th on Saturday, launched into the lead group in moto one with a blistering start, quickly climbing to fourth by lap three. His pace was sharp, his lines clean—until a brutal crash on the downhill section abruptly ended his charge. Meanwhile, Mattia Guadagnini, starting from a wide gate after a 17th-place qualifying finish, carved his way into the top 15 aboard the Desmo450 MX. With smart passes and capitalizing on others’ mistakes, he surged to eighth before settling for a strong 10th-place finish.

Despite the crash, Seewer showed true grit by lining up for moto two, determined to salvage points. He again launched well but was squeezed at turn one, dropping to 12th. Guadagnini, eager to repeat his earlier success, pushed hard at the start but clipped the barriers near the holeshot stripe, sending him to the back of the pack. Seewer held steady to finish 11th, while Guadagnini, after two more crashes, crossed the line in 22nd.

“We worked hard and finally found a bit of what was missing,” said Seewer. “My pace was strong, and the bike’s in the best shape it’s ever been. The crash was unlucky, but I’m not injured—just bruised. We’re moving in the right direction.”

“It was a positive weekend overall,” Guadagnini added. “Race one showed our progress, but race two was tough. Still, I kept pushing to finish.”

With the dust settled, Seewer holds 9th in the championship standings, while Guadagnini sits 17th. Next up, MXGP heads to Arnhem for the final European round—a deep sand circuit that holds sentimental value for the Desmo450 MX, which made its racing debut there last year with Antonio Cairoli.
