Difficult day, but with good margins for improvement in view of a race all in recovery.
The circuit of Barcelona gave also today a sunny day, under which the last free practice and the qualifying session were held from the riders of MV Agusta Forward Racing team.
Simone Corsi, who yesterday had begun to find the right feeling with the bike, ended the day improving in qualifying by 6 tenths compared to FP3, less than 2 tenths from access to Q2. “It was growing weekend for Simone, as he managed to lower his time by over 1.5 seconds since FP1. I saw a very consistent and combative rider, which bodes well for tomorrow’s long race where he will have the chance to redeem himself after last week’s race at Mugello, which was definitely below expectations,” said Milena Koerner.
Lorenzo Baldassarri, who took part in a bad crash this morning, got back on his MV Agusta F2 for the qualifying session, but was unable to achieve his final goal. “The crash this morning didn’t help us. The guys did a great job to get the bike back on track this afternoon and that definitely helped the rider regain confidence with the bike immediately. Tomorrow morning we’ll use the warm-up to make some more adjustments, knowing that we’ll have a race to recover from,” said Riccardo Vareschi, Baldassarri’s chief technician.
Both riders of the MV Agusta Forward Racing team will start tomorrow’s race from the eighth row of the grid, which will be held at 14:30.
Simone Corsi – Rider #24
“A pity about today, we had the objective of entering Q2 of course, and for a few tenths unfortunately we did not succeed. In the afternoon I suffered a bit of chatter on the front even if in any case we went better than this morning. We will work for tomorrow morning with the aim of scoring points in the race, hopefully it won’t rain. In any case we will give our best”.
Lorenzo Baldassarri – Rider #7
“Today was a bit of an unusual day. We had a work plan this morning but unfortunately I crashed on the first lap. I have to thank the guys in the team who did a great job to fix the bike. I didn’t have a good feeling with the bike in qualifying and I couldn’t do much from there. I am sorry because we will start from the back tomorrow, but I hope to find my rhythm and give my best”.
