Jerez, Spain: Baldassarri gains 2 points and Marcon concludes his first race with the team. Crash for Corsi, fortunately without consequences.
The fourth round of 2021 for the MV Agusta Forward Racing team draws to a close at the Jerez de la Frontera track.
The morning Warm Up session was difficult due to the low tarmac temperature and saw Baldassarri and Marcon victims of two crashes that gave the box a lot of work to restore their F2 bikes. Thanks to the commendable work of the mechanics, the two riders were able to take part in the race regularly.”Starting from the back is never easy but Lorenzo did an intelligent race, managing his F2 and finishing in the points. We had the pace to catch the group of riders in front, but the tussle with another rider did not favor either of us. In any case, I’m satisfied because the bike responded well, allowing us to manage it throughout the race”. These are the declarations of Vareschi, Baldassarri’s chief technician, who saw his weekend end by gaining 2 points in the championship standings, finishing in 14th place.
The young Wild Card Tommaso Marcon crossed the finish line in 23rd position, performing a race useful to increase his experience in the world category. Massimo Biagini, Marcon’s chief technician, commented: “The weekend has been challenging, a few too many crashes have compromised our work, depriving us of the opportunity to cover kilometers and collect important data. The positive side is that Tommy has finished a difficult race from the physical point of view, showing that he can be up to the challenge. We definitely need to improve our pace and we will work on this immediately next race weekend.”
A crash in turn 11, shortly after the middle of the race, compromised Simone Corsi’s race while he was lapping with a good pace, recovering ground on the riders in front of him: a real pity because he could have finished in the Top15.
The MV Agusta Forward Racing Team leaves Spain with a positive outlook in view of the next commitment that will see it protagonist in Le Mans, France, on May 14-15-16.
Lorenzo Baldassarri – Rider#7
“Starting from the back is always difficult in the race. Despite this, we did what we could and the pace was good even if in the end we weren’t able to get as much as we could. However, the balance of the weekend is positive because we reconfirmed the good pace we had on Friday, even though we had some difficulty climbing. In addition, I have to say that this morning the guys were very quick to repair my bike so I could get back on track to finish the warm-up after the crash, and I want to thank them for that. We’re doing a good job and we’re going to keep going and not give up on anything.
Tommaso Marcon – Rider#10
“Today’s objective was to finish the race and I am satisfied with that because unfortunately we didn’t reach that goal in Qatar. Despite some technical problems at the beginning it was important to cover more kilometres and lap by lap I understood better what I had to do and the feeling improved. Now we will analyse the data to do even better at the next race at Le Mans. Once again I want to thank the guys in the team and my chief technician for their work this weekend”.
Simone Corsi – Rider #24
“The crash today in the race wasn’t what we needed. After the start I made up a few positions and my pace wasn’t bad. My objective was to follow Balda and score points but unfortunately the front locked up like it did yesterday at turn 11. It was a shame, but we are continuing in this direction and will definitely try to do better at Le Mans”.
